Talk to Revnu in Slack, iMessage or the Dashboard

Talk to Revnu in Slack, iMessage or the dashboard chat. WhatsApp, SMS and email aren't ways to talk to Revnu. Where updates arrive, approving from your phone, files, other languages, and sending several requests.

You can talk to Revnu in three places: Slack, iMessage and the chat in the dashboard. It's the same Revnu with the same memory in all three, so pick whichever you already have open.

Which one should I use?

Channel Best for What you need
Slack Teams who live in Slack. Everyone in the channel sees the work. A Slack workspace. See Add Revnu to Slack.
iMessage Founders on the move. You text Revnu like a person. An iPhone with iMessage on. See Text Revnu on iMessage.
Dashboard chat Everyone. Works on any phone or computer, with nothing to connect. Nothing. Open revnu.com/dashboard.

Connect Slack or iMessage any time in Connections > Talk to Revnu. You can use more than one.

No Slack and no iPhone?

Use the dashboard chat. At sign-up, the channel screen only shows Slack and iMessage, so:

  1. Pick Slack or iMessage. Either works.

  2. Press Continue.

  3. Tap the small Use the Dashboard for Now link below Change Channel at the bottom of the next screen.

If you skipped Slack and iMessage at sign-up, Revnu's first plan and first questions are waiting in the chat on Home. See No Slack and no iPhone on the sign-up page.

Is it one conversation for the whole team?

No. It's one conversation per person, not per account. Your dashboard chat and your iMessage thread are one conversation, and a teammate has their own. A Slack channel is shared by everyone in it. Memory, leads and results are shared by everyone. See Teammates.

Where do Revnu's updates arrive?

Revnu answers you where you wrote. Its own messages, such as the daily update or a finished lead list, go to the channel you last wrote to it on. If that channel stops working, they go to Slack, then to your phone, then to the dashboard chat.

So to move your updates, write to Revnu from the channel you want them in.

How do I approve things from my phone?

  • Open a card from the link. When Revnu says something is waiting in Review, its message has a link. The link opens that one card without signing in, and you can answer a question or pick an option there.

  • Approve sends, posts and spend in the dashboard. A link can't approve anything that sends a message, publishes a post or spends money. Those cards show Open in Dashboard. Sign in on your phone and approve them in Review.

  • Or reply in chat. For an email draft Revnu just asked about, replying "send it" works the same as pressing Approve & Send in Review.

See The Review screen for every card and button.

What files can I send Revnu?

In any channel, attach up to 10 files to a message, each up to 10 MB:

  • PDFs. Revnu opens and reads them.

  • Word, PowerPoint and Excel files (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx). Revnu reads the text out of them, so layout and pictures inside don't come through. Older .doc, .ppt and .xls files aren't accepted. Save them in the newer format or as a PDF.

  • CSV and text files. To give Revnu a list of leads, attach the CSV or spreadsheet. See Import your own list.

  • Images, including iPhone photos. To show Revnu something on your screen, send a screenshot.

For a large deck, export it as a PDF. A dashboard chat message can be up to 4,000 characters.

Can Revnu send me a file?

Revnu can attach images and files to a reply, such as an ad image or a screenshot. For text you want to keep, such as an article you don't want published, a list or a long draft, ask for it as text in the chat: "Paste the full article here." Then copy it into your own document. For anything private, ask for text in the chat rather than a file or a link.

Can Revnu watch a video or hear a voice note?

Revnu reads screenshots and PDFs, so send one of those, or type it out. It can't watch video: a video you attach (up to 200 MB) can only be passed on, unchanged, to your Meta ad account to run as an ad.

Revnu doesn't take audio files or voice notes either. If you send one, Revnu tells you it couldn't open it. Type the message instead.

What happens if I message Revnu while it's working?

While it's replying to you, your new text joins the work it's doing. Add to it ("also include Germany"), correct it ("stop, UK only") or say thanks, and it carries on. A few messages stop the current reply and start a new one: one with a file attached, or one from a teammate.

While it's doing scheduled work, such as its daily session or a check it booked, your message comes first. The scheduled work stops and runs again straight after Revnu answers you.

Note

If you interrupt the same piece of scheduled work a third time, Revnu drops it rather than restart it forever. If something you expected didn't happen, check Home or Review, then ask for it again.

Long lead searches run in the background, so chatting doesn't stop them. To change one, tell Revnu, and it starts the search again with the new brief.

How do I send Revnu several requests?

Ask for them all in one message, in plain words, and Revnu works through them in turn:

Find 20 landlords in Leeds, write a sequence for them, then draft a blog post on rent rises.

Slack, iMessage and the dashboard chat are one conversation, so use whichever is handy. If you send another message while Revnu is still replying, it reads both and answers them together. Ask "what are you working on?" any time to see what's running and what's next.

Can I talk to Revnu on WhatsApp, SMS or email?

Talk to Revnu in Slack, iMessage or the dashboard chat, which works in any phone's browser. It doesn't use WhatsApp, SMS or email, for you or your prospects.

How do I make Revnu's replies shorter?

Ask once in chat ("keep your replies to two lines"). Then make it stick: open the first file in Settings > Memory, titled About plus your business name and add a line such as "Keep replies to the founder short: two lines, no lists." Revnu reads Memory before everything it does, so the preference carries over to new conversations. See Memory. For a summary of the week, read the daily update and Monday report.

Does Revnu work in other languages?

Yes. Customers chat with Revnu in Spanish, German, Portuguese, Czech, Russian, Turkish and more, and it replies in the language you write in.

It writes each outreach email in the language of the prospect's own website, so a French firm gets French email. When a list mixes languages, it writes one sequence per language. For posts and ads, tell it once ("write our posts in German") and add that line to Settings > Memory. The dashboard and these docs are in English.

Tip

If your buyers speak one language and you speak another, say both:

Talk to me in English, and write to prospects in French.

What you'll see

  • In Slack, Revnu replies in a thread under your message.

  • In iMessage, replies come from +1 (415) 373-8405.

  • In the dashboard, the chat sits on Home and as a floating chat on every other page.
