Connect Microsoft Ads
Connect Microsoft Advertising (Bing) so Revnu can build Search campaigns for your approval. What Revnu builds on Microsoft, what it doesn't, and what to do when no ad account shows up.
You connect Microsoft Ads from Connections. Revnu builds Microsoft Search campaigns only: keywords, negative keywords and responsive search ads. Copilot and Microsoft's partner placements come with Search automatically.
On a Search campaign, Revnu can also bid more or less for people Microsoft matches to a LinkedIn company, industry or job function, or exclude them. Ask for it in chat, for example "bid 50% more for people in finance roles". Ads still show to everyone else. It works on campaigns you built in Microsoft too, as do negative keywords.
Revnu builds new Microsoft Search campaigns. It doesn't copy your existing Google campaigns across. When Google Ads is connected too, it picks Microsoft keywords using Google's keyword data, so the new campaigns are modelled on what people search for on Google.
Connecting never launches an ad or spends money. Campaigns start paused and wait for your approval.
Before you start
You need a Microsoft Advertising account with a payment method. Revnu doesn't create one.
Sign in with the Microsoft user that has access to that account. A login that can see more than 200 ad accounts can't connect; use a user with access to fewer.
Before launch, Revnu needs an outcome set up in Ads > Revnu Tag. See set up outcomes.
How do I connect Microsoft Ads?
Open Connections
In the dashboard, open Connections and find the Advertise group.
Press Connect on Microsoft Ads
Press Connect on the Microsoft Ads row.
Sign in to Microsoft
Sign in with the Microsoft user that has access to your ad account, and allow access.
Wait while Revnu looks for your accounts
Back on Connections, the row says "Microsoft is connected. Revnu is looking for your ad accounts." while it checks.
Choose the ad account
If Revnu finds one active account, it uses it. If it finds several, press Choose Account and pick one. The row then says Using and the account name.
What you'll see once it's connected
The row says Using and the account name.
Revnu creates its own offline conversion goal in your account so Microsoft can bid on your results. A new goal can't receive results for about two hours, so the first result on a fresh account may reach Microsoft late.
After you approve a launch, Microsoft reviews new ads, usually within one business day. A campaign under review isn't broken.
Revnu can read reports on every campaign in the account, including ones you built yourself: which searches you paid for, keyword quality, and results by device and location.
Note
Once you approve a launch, Microsoft bills the payment method on your ad account. Your Monthly Ads Budget caps what Revnu spends across every channel.
If it doesn't work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Microsoft is connected, but this login has no ad accounts yet." | Create the account in Microsoft Advertising, or reconnect with a user who has access to it |
| The row stays on "looking for your ad accounts" | Refresh the page after a minute. If it doesn't settle, reconnect |
| An account doesn't appear in the list | Revnu only offers active accounts. Suspended, paused or unfinished accounts can't run campaigns |
| "The connection expired." | Press Reconnect on the row |
