Connect Reddit Ads

Go from no Reddit ad account to your first live Reddit tests. The steps only you can do in Reddit Ads, the steps Revnu does after you connect, and what to do when Reddit says no ad account or the payment method isn't approved.

Revnu can't make a Reddit ad account for you: it needs your Reddit login and your card. The first four steps below happen in Reddit Ads with your own login and take a few minutes each. Reddit doesn't let any app do them for you. After that, you connect and Revnu does the rest.

How do I go from no account to live Reddit ads?

  1. Create a Reddit Ads account

Sign up at ads.reddit.com. Revnu only sees ad accounts your Reddit Business owns. An ad account someone else shared with you won't show up.

  2. Add a payment method

Add a card in Reddit Ads. Reddit has to approve it before anything can launch.

  3. Create an advertiser profile

    Create one in Reddit Ads.

  4. Create a Reddit Pixel

Create it in Reddit's Events Manager. Revnu can't create Pixels on Reddit.

  5. Connect Reddit Ads to Revnu

In Connections, find the Advertise group and press Connect on Reddit Ads. Sign in and allow access. If your Business owns several ad accounts, press Choose Account and pick one.

  6. Set up your outcome

In Ads > Revnu Tag, set up the result you want, such as a sign-up or a trial start. Reddit needs to know what counts as a result before Revnu can save any ad, so do this before anything else in Revnu. Revnu links your Reddit Pixel to it, so Reddit hears about each confirmed result from Revnu's servers. If the account has several Pixels, the row asks which one to use. See set up outcomes.

  7. Set a monthly ads budget

On Ads, set one Monthly Ads Budget for every channel. See ad budgets.

  8. Approve the first ads

Revnu picks the subreddits and interests, writes the post headline, makes the image and builds each ad as a paused conversions campaign in your account. Launching, and the money behind it, waits for your yes.

What you'll see once it's live

  • Reddit only optimises for a Pixel event its Pixel has already recorded. On a new account the first tests bid for clicks. Once the first result has reached Reddit, Revnu offers a fresh draft that bids for your result.

  • Reddit needs about 20 results to leave its learning phase. If your result is rare, such as a booked demo, expect weeks in learning. Revnu keeps budget, targeting and the ad unchanged for at least two weeks before judging.

  • Revnu reads which subreddits and interests spent without converting, and can narrow or widen the audience on your request.

Reddit says my payment method isn't approved

Reddit hasn't accepted the card on your ad account yet. This is Reddit's check, not Revnu's, so the fix is in Reddit Ads:

  1. Open ads.reddit.com and go to your account's billing settings.

  2. Finish any verification Reddit asks for, or remove the card and add it again.

  3. Tell Revnu when it's done.

Revnu can still build paused drafts meanwhile, and it passes on Reddit's own reason when a launch is refused. Reddit's help centre has the detail of its card checks.

If it doesn't work

What you see What to do
"Reddit is connected, but this business does not own an ad account yet." Create the ad account in Reddit Ads under the same Business, then reconnect. Shared-in accounts can't be used
The row says Revnu is checking which ad accounts this Business owns Wait a minute, then refresh accounts on Ads
A launch is refused because the payment method isn't approved See Reddit says my payment method isn't approved
Revnu can't save a draft Set up an outcome in Ads > Revnu Tag first. Reddit drafts need a Pixel linked to it
Revnu says the Pixel or advertiser profile is missing Create it in Reddit Ads. Revnu names which one blocks

Revnu sees the ad accounts owned by the Reddit Business you signed in with. An account shared into your Business from another one isn't available. Create one under your own Business and reconnect.
