How Do I Reach a List I Already Have, or Event Attendees?

A step-by-step recipe for outreach to your own list, a directory or the people you want at an event. Upload the file in chat, say what it's for and the dates, approve the sequence, and Revnu researches each name and sends on your timeline.

Upload your list in chat, or send a link to a public directory, or describe the people you want at your event. Tell Revnu what the outreach is for and any date that matters. It researches every name, writes for that occasion, and sends once you approve the first sequence.

What you need

  • Your list as a CSV or .xlsx file. Older .xls files don't work. Up to 10 files at once, 10 MB each. Or a link to a public page that lists the people or companies, such as an attendee page or a members directory.

  • For an event: the date, the place, and the day invitations should stop.

  • A mailbox to send from, connected in Connections > Reach People.

Step by step

  1. Upload the list and say what it's for

Attach the file in the dashboard chat, Slack or iMessage. Revnu reads the file in that conversation, so explain it in the same message:

these are 200 agencies from my old crm. add them to leads under "old crm list" and use my agency sequence

here's last year's attendee list. invite them to our founders dinner in london on 14 november. invites stop on 7 november

You don't need to rename columns. Revnu works out which is the company, the person and the email. There's no Import button on the Leads page. Chat is the way in.

  2. Say what any extra column is for

Revnu only keeps extra columns you explain:

the "code" column is each person's discount code. save it on each lead and put their own code in their first email

    See import your own list.

  3. Check the list landed

Revnu confirms what it found in the file, then researches each row: the company's website, the person's role and a checked email. The first leads show on Leads within minutes. Pick your list from the campaign dropdown at the top left (it says All Leads until you pick one).

A row Revnu can't confirm is flagged, not emailed. Ask "which rows did you skip, and why?"

  4. Read and approve the sequence

Open Leads, pick the campaign, then press the N Steps pill next to it. An event invite, a partner pitch and a sales email are different messages, so check it reads like the one you meant. Ask for changes in plain words, then press Approve.

  5. Send before the deadline

Approve the sequence as soon as it appears in Review. Revnu works to the date you gave it and keeps follow-ups before the deadline.

From your own Gmail or Outlook on Pro, approved email leaves within minutes, up to 50 a day per mailbox. Two connected mailboxes send twice as many. Inboxes Revnu buys need days to weeks to warm up first, so for a deadline this week, use your own inbox.

Tip

A list of 200 from one mailbox takes at least four days at 50 a day. Plan the deadline around that.

Your first sequence waits for you. What about later ones?

A later sequence goes live on its own if Start Sequences is on Just Do It, the Pro default. If you want to read the drafts first, set it to Ask Me First in Settings > Agent before you upload.

No list yet? Describe who you want there

find 20 finance leaders at 100 to 500 person companies in chicago for our roundtable on 3 december

Or paste a link to a public directory or members page and say "add everyone on this page to leads". If a page needs your login, Revnu hands that step to you.

What to expect, and when

  • Within minutes: Revnu confirms the file and the first leads appear.

  • In the background: the rest of a long list, with research on each row.

  • The same day you approve: the first emails from your own inbox.

  • Before the deadline: follow-ups, timed to the date you named.

  • As people answer: replies in Inbox, with a draft answer waiting in Review. See handle replies and book calls.

If it doesn't work

What you see What to do
Revnu can't read the file Check it's CSV or .xlsx and under 10 MB. Split a bigger file in two
Some rows didn't become leads Revnu leaves out rows it can't confirm and anyone on your block list. Ask which rows it skipped
You asked about a column days later and Revnu doesn't know it Upload the file again and explain the column in the same message
The invite has the wrong date Revnu only knows dates you tell it. Correct it in chat, then approve the rewrite
Only some people may be emailed Upload only those people and say "only ever email the people in this list". Keep Start Sequences and One-Off Emails on Ask Me First so you see each email

Frequently Asked Questions

Upload a CSV or .xlsx file in the dashboard chat, Slack or iMessage, and say what the list is for in the same message. Revnu researches each row and saves it to Leads. Chat is the way in, rather than a button on the Leads page.
