Sending Inboxes Revnu Buys and Warms Up
Why Revnu proposes lookalike domains and sending inboxes, who pays for them, what you approve, how long they take to warm up, how many emails they send and how to check their progress.
Revnu can buy domains that look like yours, such as a version of your brand with "get" or "try" in front, and set up sending inboxes on them. Cold email then goes out from those inboxes instead of your real domain, so your everyday email is never at risk.
Revnu pays for them, nothing is bought until you approve, and they warm up for days to weeks before they send. If you want to send today, connect your own Gmail or Outlook as well (connect Gmail or Outlook). For spam and blacklists in general, see will Revnu's emails land in spam?.
What do I approve?
Buying domains and inboxes spends money, so it always waits for you, whatever your approval settings say.
Open the proposal in Review
Revnu proposes the setup in Review: the domains, the inbox addresses and the person each inbox sends as.
Check the names
Every inbox sends as a real person on your team, with their first and last name. If Revnu doesn't know who should send, it asks you first.
Approve or reject it
Approve it, or reject it if you'd rather not use separate domains. Rejecting is fine: your first emails can go from your own inbox instead.
Wait for Revnu's message
The inboxes warm up in the background. Once they pass their warm-up and delivery checks, Revnu messages you and names the inboxes that are ready for outreach. You don't need to keep checking.
A setup has at most 4 domains, 5 inboxes per domain and 10 inboxes in total. Revnu usually aims for about four inboxes.
Why does Revnu want to buy domains that look like mine?
Cold email goes to people who didn't ask for it. Some of them will ignore it or mark it as spam, and that counts against the domain it came from. A separate domain keeps that away from the address you use for customers, investors and your team. Anyone who visits the lookalike domain is sent on to your real website.
Who pays for them?
Revnu does, within a monthly limit set by your plan. Managed's limit is higher than Pro's, and it can't be raised for one account. If a new setup would go over it, Revnu tells you what it couldn't buy.
How long until they can send?
Plan on days to weeks, not hours. After you approve, the inboxes go through warm-up and delivery checks in the background, and they don't send any outreach until those checks pass. Revnu keeps working meanwhile: it builds your lead list and gets your sequence ready, so emails can start as soon as the inboxes are ready.
Want a sense of timing before Revnu's message? Ask "when will these inboxes start sending?". Revnu reads the setup's progress and tells you where it stands. Treat any date it gives as an estimate.
Note
Bought inboxes won't send anything during a one-day free trial. The standard trial is one day, and new inboxes spend days to weeks warming up. During a trial, Revnu usually sends from your own inbox and suggests sending inboxes once you're on a plan. See the free trial.
Can I send while they warm up?
Yes, from your own mailbox. Connect Gmail or Outlook in Connections > Reach People. On Pro, your own inbox sends each email within minutes of your approval. Volume moves to the bought inboxes once they're ready.
How do I check their progress?
In Inbox. Open the account menu at the top of Inbox. Each sending inbox is listed by its domain, with Warming up next to any that aren't ready yet.
In chat. Ask Revnu "are my sending inboxes ready yet?". It tells you what's warming and what's ready.
How many emails does a sending inbox send?
On Pro, each inbox sends up to a small daily limit that Revnu sets when it proposes the setup: 3 a day by default, never more than 5. Four inboxes at 3 a day is about 12 emails a day across them.
They send:
On weekdays only. Nothing goes out on a Saturday or Sunday.
Inside a sending window, in your prospects' time zone. If you haven't set one, it's 8am to 5pm.
Only to addresses that pass a full email check. Revnu's own inboxes are stricter here than your connected mailbox.
To change the window or time zone, open the sequence (on Leads, pick the campaign and click the steps pill next to it), then choose Settings from the … menu. Or tell Revnu, for example "send between 9 and 5 New York time". See email sending limits.
Managed only: Workspace inboxes Revnu sets up for you
This is for Managed accounts. On Pro, bought inboxes send 3 a day each by default, never more than 5, as above. They aren't on this ramp.
Some Managed accounts send from Google Workspace inboxes on lookalike domains that Revnu bought and connected for them. Those follow a ramp based on how long the inbox has been running:
| Inbox age | Up to this many a day |
|---|---|
| From day 0 | 2 |
| From day 3 | 5 |
| From day 7 | 8 |
| From day 14 | 12 |
| From day 21 | 18 |
| From day 30 | 25 |
| From day 60 | 35 |
While an inbox is still in warm-up, it sends at most 8 a day. The same weekdays-only rule and sending window apply. A mailbox on your own domain, or a gmail.com or outlook.com address, isn't on this ramp: once Revnu has checked the domain, it sends like an own inbox on Pro, up to 50 a day and 20 an hour.
What happens when someone unsubscribes?
Emails from Revnu's sending inboxes carry an unsubscribe option. Anyone who uses it goes on your block list for good, and Revnu never emails them again.
Where do replies to these inboxes go?
To Inbox in the dashboard, under that inbox's address. Revnu drafts a response for you to approve. See replies and booking calls.
If it doesn't work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The proposal failed or never appeared | Tell Revnu. If it didn't know the sender's full name, it needs that first |
| An inbox has said Warming up for a long time | Ask Revnu for its status. If something needs attention, Revnu handles it with the team |
| One inbox lags the others | Inboxes warm up independently, so one can still say Warming up while others are ready. Ask Revnu for that inbox's status by its address. The ready ones can send meanwhile |
| Revnu said the inbox budget is used up | The limit is set per plan. On Managed, ask your growth engineer |
| Nothing is sending at all | See why aren't my emails sending? |
