Coding Agents: Get Recommended and Set Up by Them
How Revnu checks whether coding agents such as Claude Code pick your product and can set it up from your docs, MCP server, CLI or API. What an agent test records, the scorecard, how fixes ship, and tracking what coding agents recommend every day.
When a developer asks their coding agent to add email to an app or connect a database, the agent picks the tool, reads its docs and does the setup. For a product with an MCP server, CLI, API or SDK, that agent is often your first user. Revnu checks both halves of it, then fixes what gets in the way:
Discovery: does a coding agent pick you when a developer describes the problem without naming you?
Usability: can a coding agent set you up and finish a real task from your public docs?
Ask in chat
"Can a coding agent set up our SDK from our docs?"
"Do coding agents recommend us for transactional email?"
"Run an agent-experience check and write it up as a scorecard."
How an agent test works
Revnu hands one task, worded the way a developer types it, to a separate coding agent that starts fresh: an empty project folder, no notes, no accounts and nothing about your business. On accounts that run on Claude it's Claude Code itself; on the rest it's an OpenAI coding agent. Every result names the agent and model it used.
The agent searches, reads docs, installs packages and runs commands as it would for any developer. Revnu keeps every step: each search, each page it read, each command and the exact text of any error. That record answers how the agent found you, or what it picked instead.
A typical check is three to five tasks:
Setup and a first call: "make a small Node app that sends a test email with Acme"
The MCP server: "connect Claude Code to Acme's MCP server and list my projects"
A real job past the quickstart: one of the things your customers use you for
Discovery: the developer's problem, without your name, once with web search and once from what the model already knows
Each test runs for up to 25 minutes, two at a time, and most finish in a few minutes.
When a step needs a person, such as a sign-up, an API key or an OAuth approval, the agent stops there and the scorecard shows how far it got. To go further, give Revnu a test account: you sign in on Revnu's browser yourself, and with your OK it keeps that sign-in for the next check.
The scorecard
Revnu writes one note per check, with the agent and the date at the top:
| Task | Result | Where it found instructions | What blocked it | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Set up the SDK | Done in 4 steps | Your Node quickstart | Nothing | None needed |
| Connect the MCP server | Configured | Your MCP docs page | OAuth sign-in | Say a person signs in once, on the MCP page |
| Discovery, web on | Picked you first | Your docs and pricing pages | Nothing | None needed |
The table is an example. Re-checks update the same note, with the earlier result beside the new one.
Fixing what blocks agents
Revnu fixes each blocker where it lives: the docs page, the README, llms.txt, the package description, the MCP registry entry or the error message the agent hit. When the page lives in your connected GitHub repo, Revnu opens the pull request. Otherwise it writes a fix brief for your engineer that names the page, the line and the error. Once the fix ships, it re-runs the same tasks with the same agent, so you see what the fix changed.
What coding agents recommend, every day
On Managed, Revnu can also ask some of your tracked buyer questions the way a developer asks a coding agent, every day, on the AI engines it checks. Say "track what coding agents recommend" to switch it on, then ask "what are coding agents recommending?" Revnu reports how often you're named on each engine and which tools get named instead. These answers share the daily question budget with your regions.
On Pro, agent tests answer the same question whenever you ask.
Keep it going
Ask for a weekly agent-experience check and Revnu sets it up as a workflow: the same tasks, the same agent, an updated scorecard and a message about what moved.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is agent experience?
How AI agents find, understand and use your product. It has two parts: discovery (do agents know about you and recommend you?) and usability (can they get a task done with you?). Revnu checks both and fixes what it finds.
Which coding agents does Revnu test?
Agent tests run Claude Code on accounts that run on Claude, and an OpenAI coding agent on the rest. Each result names the agent and model. On Managed, the daily coding-agent checks ask the AI engines Revnu tracks for AI visibility, framed as a developer asking their coding agent.
Can't I see this in my analytics?
Analytics show visits. An agent that picks a competitor never visits, and one that gives up halfway through your docs leaves no event. Agent tests record what happened before any visit: the search, the pages, the command and the error. For pages Revnu serves, it also reports which AI crawlers fetch them.
Do I need to change my product to start?
No. The first check runs against your public docs as they are today. You decide which fixes ship.
How quickly will I see results?
The first scorecard usually arrives within the hour. After a fix ships, a re-check with the same tasks shows what it changed.
How is this different from SEO?
SEO gets your pages found by people searching. Agent experience gets your product picked and set up by agents: the right docs, package, commands and error messages, in the places agents look. Revnu runs both, and a page that answers a developer's question helps with each.
