Teach Revnu Your Business With Memory
How to give Revnu your business context once in Settings > Memory. What goes in your About file, Who We Sell To, Product Facts and Never Say, how to keep Revnu on brand with a voice brief and approval on everything, how to handle several locations or offers, how to update Who We Sell To from your own documents, the Change a Rule card, which rules are checked and which are followed, and how to make corrections stick.
Memory is where Revnu keeps what it knows about your business. It reads Memory every time it works, so anything you write there you never have to repeat in chat.
The answers you confirmed when you signed up became your first Memory. You can change any of it in Settings > Memory, and Revnu uses your edit from its next turn.
How do I edit Memory?
Open Memory
Open Settings in the sidebar. Memory is the first tab.
Pick a file
The list on the left, under Shared Context, holds your files. The first one is your About file, titled with your business name (for example About Acme). Its sections, such as Who We Sell To, follow it, then Product Facts and Never Say.
Edit the text
Type straight into the file. The note at the bottom says "Unsaved. Your agent has not seen this yet."
Save
Tap Save. The note changes to "Saved". Revnu reads the new text on its next turn.
To add your own section, such as "How We Write" or "Customers We Won't Take", tap + Add a Section, name it, write it and save it.
To delete a section, open it, tap Delete next to Save and confirm. Revnu stops reading it on its next turn.
Warning
A deleted section can't be undone. Copy anything you might want back before you delete it.
What goes in each part of Memory?
| File | What to put in it | What Revnu uses it for |
|---|---|---|
| Your About file and its sections, such as Who We Sell To | What you sell, who buys it, who to avoid, how you like to work, house style | Everything: who to find, how to pitch, how to write, what to report |
| Product Facts | Features, prices, supported platforms, current product names, what you no longer offer | Every blog post is written from these facts and checked against them |
| Never Say | Claims, phrases and names that must never appear, one per line | Nothing on this list goes into a post. A sequence that mentions an item waits for your approval. |
Should I tell Revnu in chat or write it in Memory?
Both work, and they do different jobs:
Tell Revnu in chat for a quick rule: "don't draft X posts", "never promise results in a set number of days". When you correct something about your business, such as who you sell to, a price or a product fact, Revnu updates About This Business or Product Facts in the same reply.
Write it in Settings > Memory when it must stick in your exact words. What you save there is what Revnu reads every time it works.
After telling Revnu, open Memory to check what it saved. If the rule isn't there, or isn't worded the way you want, write it yourself.
How do I give Revnu a standing rule once?
Write the rule where it applies, so it holds for every future post, email and report:
A phrase, topic or claim that must never appear: add it to Never Say. Example: "Never promise results within a set number of days."
House style or how you work: add it to your About file, or to a section of its own. Example: "Blog posts have no troubleshooting section."
A fact about your product: put it in Product Facts. Example: "The Starter plan was retired in June. Never offer it."
You can say it in chat first ("from now on, no troubleshooting section in posts"). Revnu confirms the rule in one line and saves standing preferences to Memory. Then open Memory and check it's there. If it isn't, add it yourself.
Which Memory rules does Revnu check, and which does it just follow?
Never Say is checked. Blog posts are written and checked against it, so nothing on the list goes into a post. A sequence that mentions an item waits for your approval, even with Start Sequences on Just Do It.
Everything else is followed, not checked. Style rules and preferences in your About file, such as "no troubleshooting section" or "sign off as Sam", guide what Revnu writes, but no check stops a draft that breaks one. If a style rule slips, comment on the draft in Review and say which rule it broke. If it keeps slipping, turn the phrase into a Never Say line.
Note
Memory changes apply to new work. Drafts already in Review and posts already live keep their text. Dismiss old drafts, or ask Revnu to rewrite them and fix live posts.
How do I keep Revnu on brand?
Most teams want two things before they let an agent near their customers: it has to sound like them, and nothing goes out until someone has checked it. Both are a few minutes of setup.
Brief it like a new copywriter
Add a section to your About file, called something like How We Sound, and write it the way you'd brief a new hire. Tone, words you use, words you never use, how you sign off, and two or three pieces you're proud of. For example:
Warm, plain and confident. Short sentences, British spelling. We say "book a visit", never "schedule an appointment". No exclamation marks, no emoji. Sign off as "The team at Northside", never a named person.
Pasting real examples is the fastest way in. Send Revnu a few emails or posts you love:
Here are three emails we've sent that sound exactly like us. Write the way these read, and add a How We Sound section to Memory that describes the style.
Ban what can never appear
Put claims you can't make, regulated wording and competitor names in Never Say, one per line, such as "guaranteed results" or "cure". That list is checked, not just followed: nothing on it goes into a post, and a sequence that mentions one waits for you.
Check everything before it goes out
In Settings > Agent > What Needs Your Approval, set every switch to Ask Me First. Every blog post, new sequence, one-off email, LinkedIn message and ad test then waits as a card until someone approves it, in Review, in Slack or on iMessage. Don't like a draft? Comment on it and Revnu rewrites it. See What Revnu asks before it acts.
Once the drafts keep coming back right, switch the routine kinds to Just Do It one at a time and keep the sensitive ones on Ask Me First.
Several locations, brands or offers
Give each its own section in your About file, such as Leeds Clinic and York Clinic, with its services, who it serves and any current offer with its end date. Then name the one you want when you ask:
Write this month's emails for the Leeds clinic only, using its winter offer. Don't mention services Leeds doesn't have.
Revnu keeps each campaign to the section you named. Take an offer out of Memory when it ends, so Revnu stops using it.
Photos, logos and brand files
Send them in chat with the request they're for, and say how to use them: "use these photos for the Leeds posts only". A folder view for organising brand files isn't in the dashboard yet.
The ideal customer Revnu shows doesn't match what I told it. How do I fix it?
Edit Who We Sell To yourself and save. That is the fix you can see, and Revnu uses it for the next lead search.
When you correct Revnu in chat, it rewrites the line your correction makes wrong, in the same reply, and says the change back in one line. The tab then shows "Updated by your agent", and Undo puts the old text back.
Revnu got a fact about my product wrong. How do I correct it for good?
Open Product Facts and fix or add the fact. Say what changed, for example "We support Postgres and MySQL. We don't support MongoDB."
If there's a claim that must never come back, add it to Never Say too. When you tell Revnu in chat that a fact is wrong, it fixes Product Facts and adds the false claim to Never Say itself.
Ask Revnu to fix any posts that already went out with the wrong fact. Changes to live pages follow your Blog Posts approval setting.
Product Facts change what Revnu writes. They don't change what ChatGPT or other AI engines already say about you. That is what AI visibility tracks.
What is the "Your Agent Wants to Change a Rule" card?
Revnu updates Memory in the background from your conversations. When that update would change or remove a rule you wrote, it doesn't save that part. A line counts as a rule when it says what to do or avoid, sets a limit, or sits in a section like Who We Sell To. Revnu sends you a card in Review instead, titled Your Agent Wants to Change a Rule, showing the old and new wording.
Approve writes the change into your About file.
Keep the Old Rule closes the card and leaves the text as it is.
New lines don't wait. Only edits and removals of existing rules do. If you edited the same rule yourself since the card appeared, Approve fails with a message. Choose Keep the Old Rule and edit it in Settings if you still want to.
Questions about Memory
How do I update Who We Sell To from my own documents?
Ask Revnu to read them and propose the text. Attach the files in chat, or connect Notion and name the page:
Read our ICP doc in Notion and rewrite Who We Sell To from it. Show me the new text first.
Revnu may update Memory itself, or hand you the text in chat. Either way, open Who We Sell To in Settings > Memory afterwards. If the new text isn't there, paste it in and tap Save. If the old text is still there, look in Review for a Your Agent Wants to Change a Rule card.
How much can Never Say hold?
Up to 100 lines, each under 500 characters. Put one claim or phrase per line. If a line is too long, split it in two. If you hit 100, remove lines that no longer apply.
How do I make a correction about how Revnu reports to me stick?
Say it once in chat, then make it part of Memory. For example, if you want the draft of every prospect reply pasted into the message instead of "there's a reply waiting":
Tell Revnu:
Next time, share the drafted reply itself in the message, not a summary of it.
Add a section to your About file, such as "How to Report to Me", with that line.
Replies to prospects always wait for your approval. The full draft is in Review on a Send Reply card, and the email thread in Inbox shows Review This Draft. See Replies and booking calls.
Can I undo a change Revnu made to Memory?
Yes, for your About file and Product Facts. When Revnu changed a file, it says "Updated by your agent" with the time. Tap Undo and confirm to put it back the way it was before Revnu's last update.
Bring in context from your other tools
Connect Notion, Granola or Circleback in Connections > Learn Your Business and Revnu reads them when it needs them. See Connect Notion, Granola or Circleback.
For anything else, such as a CRM export or a deck, paste it into Memory or attach it in chat: up to 10 files of up to 10 MB each.
Every teammate shares one Memory, so everyone's agent works from the same facts. See Add teammates.
If it doesn't work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Someone else changed this file. Saving replaces theirs with yours." | A teammate or Revnu saved it while you were editing. Copy anything of theirs you want to keep before you save |
| Save shows an error about Never Say | A line is over 500 characters or the list is over 100 lines. Shorten or remove lines and save again |
| Revnu still uses an old fact | Check you saved, then ask Revnu "what do you have in Product Facts about X?" It reads Memory back to you. Also check Review for a Your Agent Wants to Change a Rule card. Sequences keep their copy until they're rewritten |
| You changed what you sell | Memory is only the first step. See Changed what you sell? for sequences, drafts, tracked questions and live posts |

Frequently Asked Questions
Write it into Settings > Memory. Your About file and Who We Sell To cover your company and your buyers, Product Facts covers the product, and Never Say lists what must never appear. Revnu reads all of it every turn, so you don't paste it into chat again.
