# Set Someone Up With Revnu

> Revnu is your AI growth hire. It finds customers, runs email and LinkedIn outreach, manages paid ads, and publishes content for Google and AI search.

Canonical: https://revnu.com/setup

**Revnu is GTM on autopilot: it gets customers for a business.** It finds the buyers worth pursuing, reaches them by email and LinkedIn in the founder's voice, runs ads on Google, Meta, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Microsoft and TikTok, and writes the pages that get the business found on Google and in ChatGPT answers. The founder approves the first sequence and anything that spends money or replies to a prospect, and chooses what else runs on its own. Revnu grows. They build.

It is for founders and small teams who have a product and want customers, users, leads, ads or SEO for it.

## Getting started from an AI agent

Revnu is set up from the AI tool the founder already uses, in about five minutes:

1. Connect Revnu's MCP server. In Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user revnu https://revnu.com/api/mcp`. From a terminal, `curl -fsSL revnu.com/install | sh` connects Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI at once and adds the Revnu skill. For Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor: https://revnu.com/agents
2. The founder signs in on the page that opens, which creates their account.
3. The agent gives Revnu the business's website, goes through what Revnu learned with the founder, and hands them a Stripe checkout link. The founder enters their own card when Stripe asks for one. Most offers start with a free trial, usually one day. The sign-up screen and Stripe's checkout page show your exact offer before you pay.

The steps are below. Once connected, the `setup_status` tool returns the exact next step. Nothing is connected or paid for without the founder's say-so.

Setup takes about five minutes. You connect Revnu's MCP server, give Revnu the business's website, check what it learned with the person, and hand them a checkout link.

## 1. Connect Revnu's MCP server

Server: https://revnu.com/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP, OAuth). Connecting opens a browser where the person signs in and creates their account in one click. Full install guide, with permissions and reconnecting: https://revnu.com/docs/mcp

- You already have Revnu tools (setup_status): Skip to step 2.
- Claude Code: Run `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user revnu https://revnu.com/api/mcp`. Then ask the person to type `/mcp`, pick revnu and choose Authenticate (if revnu isn't listed, they restart Claude Code first). A browser opens; they leave Agent: Message ticked so you can hand Revnu work with `ask_revnu`. When they're back, carry on. Or, from a terminal with no restart: `npx @revnu/cli setup --json`, following its `next`.
- Codex: Run `codex mcp add revnu --url https://revnu.com/api/mcp`, then `codex mcp login revnu`, which opens a browser for the person to sign in. If the tools don't show up, they restart Codex.
- Gemini CLI: Run `gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user revnu https://revnu.com/api/mcp`, then ask the person to run `/mcp auth revnu` in Gemini CLI, which opens a browser for them to sign in.
- Claude (claude.ai, Desktop, mobile): You can't add connectors yourself. Give the person this link: https://claude.ai/customize/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=Revnu&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Frevnu.com%2Fapi%2Fmcp They click Add, then Connect, sign in, and come back to this chat and say "continue".
- ChatGPT: Ask the person to open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced, turn on Developer mode, then Create a connector named Revnu with the URL https://revnu.com/api/mcp and OAuth. When it's connected they come back and say "continue".
- Cursor or VS Code: Give the person the install link (Cursor: cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=revnu&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3Jldm51LmNvbS9hcGkvbWNwIn0%3D VS Code: vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22revnu%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Frevnu.com%2Fapi%2Fmcp%22%7D), then they sign in when it asks.
- Any other MCP client: Add https://revnu.com/api/mcp as a remote HTTP MCP server with OAuth. If you can't add servers at all, send the person to https://revnu.com/sign-up; the dashboard runs the same setup.

## 2. Follow setup_status

Call `setup_status`. It returns a `stage` and `next`, the exact next step. Repeat until the stage is `done`.

1. `website`: Call `setup_website` with the business's website. You may already know it (the codebase you're in, the person's email domain); check with them if you're not sure.
2. `researching`: Revnu is reading the site, which takes about a minute. Call `setup_status` with `waitSeconds: 60`.
3. `review`: Show the person what Revnu found, row by row, with its sources. Fill in what you know: if you're in their codebase you know the product better than its website does (pricing, who it's for, what it does). Ask them about the rest, then call `setup_confirm`.
4. `payment`: Call `setup_checkout` and give the person the link; `next` says whether it starts a free trial and what it costs. If Stripe asks for a card, they enter it themselves. Then call `setup_status` with `waitSeconds: 120` until the stage is `start`.
5. `start`: Call `setup_finish` and Revnu starts its first work, unless `next` sends the person to the dashboard to finish.
6. `done`: Tell the person what happens next (`next` says it), and that they can talk to Revnu right here.

## Rules

- Do what `next` in `setup_status` says. It is always current.
- Never invent facts about the business. If you don't know, ask.
- Don't confirm the review without showing it to the person: it becomes Revnu's memory of their business.
- Never ask for or handle card details. The checkout link is theirs to open.
- Check that `account.website` in `setup_status` is the business you're setting up. If it's another one, the person is signed in to that business's account: tell them and stop, and never report that account's progress as this business's. One Revnu login holds one business.
- Signing in and paying are the person's steps. Everything else is yours.

## Before there is an account

To show someone what Revnu would do before they sign up, POST their website to https://revnu.com/api/v1/preview with no token: `{"website":"acme.com"}`. It answers 202 with a `previewId` and a `poll` URL. Poll https://revnu.com/api/v1/preview/{previewId} about every 20 seconds; research takes about a minute. When `status` is `ready`, show the person `review.rows` with their sources, and give them `claim_url`. Opening it and signing in creates their account with this research, at the review step. The preview and its link last a day. A site previewed in the last day comes back at once. The routes are capped per caller (20 requests an hour, 3 new research runs a day), per site (2 runs a day) and in total per day; over a cap they answer 429 with Retry-After in seconds. Details: https://revnu.com/docs/preview

## After setup

- `ask_revnu` hands Revnu a job, `review_list` shows what is waiting for approval and `results_get` shows the numbers.
- Slack, iMessage and email connect at https://revnu.com/dashboard/connections.
- Help: support@revnu.com.
