# Get a checkout link

> A Stripe Checkout link that starts the customer's subscription, with a free trial when their account has one. The customer enters their card on Stripe's page.

Give the link to the customer. Stripe's webhook, not this call, starts the subscription; poll [setup status](/docs/setup-status) until the stage is `start`. Before the review is confirmed this returns `409`.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can an agent pay on the customer's behalf?

No. Card details are entered on Stripe's page by the customer. Nothing in the API takes them.
