# How Do I Win Customers When a Competitor Raises Prices?

> A GTM play for Revnu. When a competitor announces a price increase, find the companies using that product who should switch, work out what switching takes, and reach them by email and LinkedIn with a low-barrier offer. Test the offers and scale what gets replies.

A competitor's price increase is a gift. Thousands of their customers just got a reason to look around. Revnu finds the companies running that product, works out what it takes them to switch, and reaches them by email and LinkedIn before they renew.

## Why it works

Nobody switches tools on a quiet Tuesday. A price increase forces a budget conversation, and your message lands right in it. The companies are easy to find, because the tools a company runs show up on its website, in its job posts and in what its people write.

What stops people switching is the work of switching. So the message isn't "we're cheaper". It's "here's exactly what moving takes, and we'll do it for you".

## How to run it

1. **Spot the increase.** Tell Revnu about the announcement, or have it check the competitor's pricing page, blog and the news every week.
2. **Find their customers.** Revnu finds companies whose websites show the product, whose job posts mention it, and whose people post or review it, then checks each company fits your buyer.
3. **Work out the switch.** Revnu reads what the competitor does and what you do, and writes down what moving takes: data to export, setup time, what changes for the team.
4. **Write two channels.** An email and a LinkedIn message about that switch, not your feature list.
5. **Make yes easy.** A free trial, a free onboarding call or migration help, in every message.
6. **Test and scale.** Revnu runs more than one version of the sequence, tracks which offers and messages get replies, and moves new prospects to the winner while it keeps testing.

## The prompt

> [Competitor] just announced a price increase. Find 40 companies that use [competitor] and fit our buyer. For each one, work out what switching to us would take. Write an email and a LinkedIn message about that switch, not about our features, with a low-barrier offer: [a free trial / a free onboarding call / we migrate your data for you]. Test two versions of the offer and tell me which gets more replies.

LinkedIn steps send from your own account once you [connect LinkedIn](/docs/connect-linkedin). Your first sequence waits for your yes in **Review**. After that, Revnu can test new versions on its own inside your **Experiment Budget** in **Settings > Agent**. See [tests Revnu runs on its own](/docs/sequences#tests-revnu-runs-on-its-own).

## Run it every week

Set it up as a [workflow](/docs/recurring-work) so the next price change never slips past you:

> Every Monday, check [competitor]'s pricing page, blog and the news for a price change. If they raised prices, find 30 companies using them and start the switching campaign. Either way, add 15 new companies using [competitor] to the Switchers campaign.

See [recurring work with workflows](/docs/recurring-work) and the [workflows API](/docs/workflows).

## Frequently asked questions

### How does Revnu know a company uses a competitor?

From public evidence: the technology detected on the company's website, job posts that name the tool, and what the company's people post and review. Each lead shows its evidence on the **Signals** tab, so you can check it before anything sends.

### Should the email say "we're cheaper"?

Lead with the switch, not the price. They already know the price went up. What they don't know is how painless moving can be. Revnu writes about what switching takes and how you make it easy.

### How does the A/B testing work?

Revnu runs more than one version of the sequence, such as two offers or two openers, and counts the replies each one gets. It moves new prospects to the version that wins and keeps testing new ideas against it. Ask "which version is winning?" at any time.

### Can I run this for several competitors at once?

Yes. Name each competitor and Revnu builds a campaign for each, with copy about switching from that specific product.

### What if the competitor hasn't raised prices?

The play still works on any change that hurts their customers: a removed feature, a cancelled plan, an outage, a forced upgrade. Tell Revnu the change and it runs the same steps.
