# Connect Google Ads

> Connect your Google Ads account so Revnu can build Search, Performance Max and Demand Gen campaigns for your approval. What the "Google hasn't verified this app" screen means, how to get past it, and what to do when no ad account shows up.

You connect Google Ads from **Connections**. Google will probably warn that it hasn't verified Revnu yet. That screen is expected, and the steps below get you past it.

Connecting never launches an ad or spends money. Revnu builds campaigns paused and waits for your approval.

## Before you start

- **You need a Google Ads account already.** Revnu can't create one. If you don't have one, sign up at [ads.google.com](https://ads.google.com) with your own Google login and add a payment method. If Google offers to switch to **Expert Mode** during sign-up, choose it, so you get a full account rather than the simplified one.
- **Use the Google login that can open that ad account.** The Google login and the Google Ads account are two different things. The login has to be on the ad account, or on a manager account above it.

## How do I connect Google Ads?

### 1. Open Connections

In the dashboard, open **Connections** and find the **Advertise** group.

### 2. Press Connect on Google Ads

Press **Connect** on the **Google Ads** row.

![The Advertise group on Connections, with the Connect button on the Google Ads row at top left](/docs/screens/connections-advertise.webp)

### 3. Pick your Google login

Choose the Google user that has access to your ad account.

### 4. Get past Google's warning

If Google shows "Google hasn't verified this app", click **Advanced**. Then click the link that appears under it. It starts with **Go to** and ends with **(unsafe)**. [Why Google shows this](#why-does-google-say-it-hasnt-verified-revnu).

### 5. Allow access

Allow the permissions Google lists.

### 6. Set up an outcome

Revnu takes you to **Ads > Revnu Tag**. Set up the result your ads should bring in, such as a booked call or a trial start. See [set up outcomes](/docs/set-up-outcomes).

> **Note:** The row doesn't show which Google login you connected, only the ad account. If you're not sure which login you used, connect again and pick the login on Google's account chooser.

## What you'll see once it's connected

- The Google Ads row says **Using** and your ad account's name.
- If the login can see more than one ad account, the row shows **Choose Account**. Pick the one Revnu should use.
- Revnu creates its own conversion actions in your account so Google can bid on your results. It sets them as secondary, so your existing campaigns keep bidding on what they bid on before.
- Revnu can read every campaign in the account, including ones you built yourself, and tell you where the money went. See [review the Google Ads campaigns you already run](/docs/review-existing-ads).

## How do I tell Revnu what to spend?

In chat, in your own words. For example:

> Spend up to £800 a month on Google ads. Start with search ads for "bookkeeping for restaurants" in London.

Because you asked in that message, Revnu can set your **Monthly Ads Budget** to £800. It's one budget for every ad channel, not just Google. You can also set it yourself on **Ads**. See [ad budgets](/docs/ad-budgets).

> **Note:** Google bills the payment method on your ad account for every campaign you approve. Launching a campaign always waits for a separate yes from you, even after you set a budget.

## Questions about connecting Google Ads

**What access am I giving?**

Google's consent screen asks for access to manage your Google Ads accounts, plus Google's Data Manager so Revnu can send your results to Google. In practice:

- **Revnu reads** every campaign in the account, including ones you built, with their spend and Google's own results.
- **Revnu builds** campaigns paused, and adds its own conversion actions as secondary so your existing bidding doesn't change.
- **Revnu can't launch, resume or spend** without your approval. You can disconnect from the same row at any time.

More on what Revnu stores: [security and data](/docs/security-and-data).

**Why does Google say it hasn't verified Revnu?**

Google reviews every app that asks to manage Google Ads accounts. At the time of writing (October 2026), Revnu's Google Ads permission is still in that review. So Google shows a warning before its usual consent screen and hides the way through behind **Advanced**. We don't have a date for when Google finishes.

The warning is about Google's review of the app, not about your account. The connection works the same once you continue. Revnu still can't launch anything or spend without your approval, and you can disconnect at any time from the same row.

If you'd rather not continue, start with another channel. LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Microsoft and TikTok Ads connect from the same group.

**Why does Revnu ask me to set up an outcome straight after?**

Revnu judges every Google campaign on a result you pick, such as a booked call or a trial start, not on clicks. It waits for one before it launches a campaign. It also uses the outcome to create the conversion actions Google bids on. Setup takes a few minutes in **Ads > Revnu Tag** if someone can add code to your site. No developer? [Set up outcomes](/docs/set-up-outcomes) explains what works without one.

**What if I leave the connection unfinished?**

Nothing breaks. Revnu keeps working on your other channels. If you ask for Google Ads before it's connected, Revnu writes the ads in chat and asks you to connect Google Ads. Once you do, it builds them as paused campaigns.

**My ad account sits under an agency or manager account**

That works. Sign in with a user on the manager account and Revnu finds the client accounts under it.

## If it doesn't work

| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| You saw Google's warning and stopped | Nothing was connected. Press **Connect** again and continue through **Advanced** |
| "No advertising account was found for this Google login." | The Google user you signed in with isn't on the ad account. See [the fix below](#fix-no-advertising-account-was-found) |
| "This Google login has no Google Ads account." | The login you picked has never had a Google Ads account. Press **Connect** on the **Google Ads** row again and pick the login that owns your ad account. No account yet? Create one at ads.google.com first |
| "None of your Google Ads accounts is active." | Google sees your account, but it was cancelled or never finished Google's own setup. Finish setup or reactivate it in Google Ads, then connect again |
| "Google Ads account discovery did not finish." | Connect again from **Connections**, or press **Refresh Accounts** in **Ads > Revnu Tag** if you see it |
| The row says **Finish Setup** | Press **Finish Setup**. **Ads** shows what's missing, usually choosing an account or setting up an outcome |
| Revnu mentions Google access in chat | The Google user you connected can't open the ad account. Follow the fix below |

**Fix: No advertising account was found**

You probably signed in with a Google user that isn't on the ad account. You don't need an outcome set up first.

1. In Google Ads, add that user to the ad account (**Admin**, then **Access and security**). Skip this if another login you have is already on it.
2. In **Connections > Advertise**, press **Connect** on the **Google Ads** row again and pick that login. Every connect looks for ad accounts afresh.

It worked when the row says **Using** and shows the account name. Once an outcome is set up, **Refresh Accounts** under **Manage Ad Channels** in **Ads > Revnu Tag** does the same check without reconnecting.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to click "Advanced" on the "Google hasn't verified this app" screen?

Yes. The warning means Google hasn't finished reviewing Revnu's Google Ads permission. It doesn't change what Revnu can do once connected: it builds campaigns paused, nothing launches or spends without your approval, and you can disconnect from Connections at any time.

### Why does Revnu say it can't see my Google Ads account?

The Google user you signed in with isn't on that ad account. Add that user to the ad account in Google Ads, then press Connect on the Google Ads row in Connections again. You don't need an outcome set up first. The row then says Using and shows the account name.

### What are the exact buttons on Google's warning screen?

Click Advanced, then the link that starts with Go to and ends with (unsafe). Google then shows its usual consent screen.

### Why does Revnu ask for an outcome after I connect?

Revnu waits for a result to count before it launches a campaign, and it judges every ad on that result, not on clicks. Set one up in Ads, Revnu Tag.

### Can Revnu claim Google's ad credit offer for me?

You claim promotions in your own Google Ads billing, where your payment details stay with you. Revnu's monthly ads budget counts the spend Google reports for your campaigns, and Google's billing shows how a credit is applied.

### What access does connecting Google Ads give Revnu?

Google asks for access to manage your Google Ads accounts. Revnu uses it to read your campaigns, build paused campaigns and send your results to Google. Launching and spending always wait for your approval, and you can disconnect any time.

### I don't have a Google Ads account. Can Revnu make one?

You create it at ads.google.com with your own login, so the account and its billing are yours. Choose Expert Mode if Google offers it, add a payment method, then connect it here.

### Who pays for Google Ads?

You do, directly. Google bills the payment method on your ad account. See [ad budgets and who pays](/docs/ad-budgets).

### Does connecting Google Ads start spending money?

No. Connecting only lets Revnu read the account and build paused drafts. Launching a campaign and setting a budget always wait for you.

### Will Revnu change my existing Google campaigns?

It reads them and tells you what it would cut, keep or push. It changes one only when you say yes. It can pause one of your campaigns on request, but you turn it back on in Google Ads yourself. See [review the Google Ads campaigns you already run](/docs/review-existing-ads).
