# Clay vs Revnu: A GTM Workbench or Someone to Do the Work?

> Clay is a data workbench a GTM engineer runs. Revnu does the SDR work itself: research, writing and sending, and you set what waits. Does it replace Clay?

Clay is a data workbench that a skilled operator builds on. Revnu does the work that comes after the table: it finds buyers, researches them, writes to them in your voice and sends from your team's own inboxes and LinkedIn accounts. If your reps have Clay and still aren't working the leads, what's missing is the SDR work, and that is what Revnu does.

## What Clay is

Clay's homepage calls it "infrastructure to get any data, run agentic workflows, and launch GTM plays", and says "GTM engineers build on Clay". From its own pages in October 2026:

- **Data.** It finds and enriches data from 150+ providers, running them in waterfalls until one returns what you need.
- **Research.** Claygent, its AI research agent, turns a question about a company into a column that runs across every row.
- **Sending.** Paid plans can send email with Clay's own sequencer or a sequencing integration. Growth adds buying domains and inboxes for it.
- **CRM.** The Growth plan auto-syncs and enriches your CRM.

It is a canvas. Someone designs the tables, the prompts and the workflows. That is the design, and Clay is good at it.

## When Clay earns its cost

If you have an operator with real hours, Clay is hard to beat. A GTM engineer can build lists no off-the-shelf database matches, encode research into columns that run while they sleep, and feed the results into the CRM your reps already live in. A team with that function should keep Clay.

Pricing reflects that. [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing), read in October 2026, lists a free plan, Launch at $167 a month and Growth at $446 a month on annual billing, and Enterprise on request, with a 14-day trial. Each plan bundles actions and data credits that you can expand. The bigger cost is usually the person running it.

## The honest limit

The limit is the chair. A perfect table is still only an input. Someone still decides who the table is for, writes the message, sends it, reads the replies and decides what to try next week. When nobody has those hours, the table sits there, and the reps who were meant to act on it don't.

## Does Revnu replace Clay, sit beside it, or do the SDR work?

It does the SDR work. Whether that replaces Clay depends on what Clay is doing for you today.

Start with the lead quality, since that is what Clay is usually bought for. Every lead Revnu finds carries a Why Now, links to the pages Revnu read and a fit score from 0 to 100, so you can judge each one before it's contacted ([what's on a lead](/docs/lead-details)). Revnu sources leads from third-party business data plus its own research on public pages such as company websites, job posts and news ([how Revnu finds leads](/docs/find-leads)).

- **Revnu replaces Clay** when Clay's only job was building outbound lists. Revnu finds the companies and the right person at each, verifies the email, writes a reason to reach out, and runs the email and LinkedIn outreach. Lead data is included, so there are no credits.
- **Revnu sits beside Clay** when an operator runs Clay tables that feed your CRM, scoring or routing. Keep those. You can upload a Clay export to Revnu in chat and it researches and works that list. Revnu doesn't sync back to Clay or to a CRM.
- **Revnu does the work your reps skip.** It writes to every lead, follows up, stops when someone replies, and drafts the answer with your booking link for you to approve.

## How Revnu sends for a team

Revnu sends from what your team connects, not from a shared tool login.

- **Email** goes from your own Gmail or Outlook inboxes, or from lookalike-domain inboxes Revnu buys after you approve. On Pro, Revnu sends up to 50 emails a day and 20 an hour from each Gmail or Outlook inbox you connect.
- **LinkedIn** goes from your team's own accounts, and nobody needs Sales Navigator. Each rep [connects their own LinkedIn](/docs/connect-linkedin) as a seat with its own limits, paced week by week. Sequences send their LinkedIn steps from the account owner's LinkedIn, and a teammate's seat sends when you ask for it in chat.
- **Teammates** join in Settings > Account > Team and each talks to Revnu in their own Slack or iMessage. [Adding teammates](/docs/teammates) shows what everyone shares, so a colleague can run the trial without you.
- **Email and LinkedIn run in one sequence.** A sequence can mix email steps, connection requests and LinkedIn messages, run in order one after another, and it stops when the person replies on either.
- **Replies** land in the sender's own mailbox or LinkedIn and in Revnu's Inbox, where Revnu drafts the answer for you to approve.
- **Approvals** are yours to set. Your first sequence always waits for your yes, replies to prospects always wait, and Settings > Agent decides what else does.

## Which plan fits a sales team?

Both plans cover the same channels. Pro is from $99 a month and you [start it yourself](/sign-up). Managed runs on the AI model that did best in Revnu's tests on research and bulk work, has no daily limit and comes with a growth engineer from our team who sets up your outbound with you; it's priced on a call at [revnu.com/book](/book). A team that wants someone to set it up with them usually books Managed. A team that wants outbound running this week can start Pro.

## Where this leaves you

Choose Clay if your bottleneck is data and you have someone to run it. Choose Revnu if the bottleneck is that nobody is doing the work after the table. If you have both an operator and an empty SDR seat, run both: Clay for the data your CRM needs, Revnu for the outreach.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Revnu replace Clay or sit beside it?

If Clay builds lists that nobody then works, Revnu replaces that whole job: it finds the buyers, researches them, writes and sends. If an operator runs Clay tables that feed your CRM and other tools, Revnu sits beside Clay and works the lists you upload.

### What does Clay actually do?

Clay is a data workbench for go-to-market teams. It pulls data from 150+ providers in waterfalls, runs Claygent, its AI research agent, across rows, and on paid plans can send email through its own sequencer or an integration. Its Growth plan adds CRM sync. A person designs the tables and workflows; Clay's homepage says "GTM engineers build on Clay".

### How much does Clay cost?

Clay's pricing page (read October 2026) lists a free plan, Launch at $167 a month and Growth at $446 a month on annual billing, and Enterprise on request, with a 14-day trial. Each plan is a bundle of actions and data credits that you can expand. Revnu Pro is one monthly price with lead data included, so there are no credits to buy.

### Can my sales team use Revnu without me?

Yes. Invite teammates in Settings > Account > Team. Each one links their own Slack or iMessage to talk to Revnu, and each can connect their own LinkedIn account as a seat. Revnu sends from the inboxes and LinkedIn accounts your team connects, so a colleague can run the trial from their own login.

### Do my reps need Sales Navigator for Revnu's LinkedIn outreach?

No. Each rep connects their own LinkedIn, and a free account works. Revnu finds the people itself, so nobody searches Sales Navigator to build the list. A paid LinkedIn plan only adds InMail credits and more connection notes.

### Does Revnu run email and LinkedIn outreach together?

Both run in one sequence, step by step rather than at the same moment. A sequence can mix email steps, LinkedIn connection requests and LinkedIn messages in the order you choose, and it stops when the person replies on either channel. If a connection request isn't accepted within 10 working days, the sequence skips the LinkedIn steps that needed it and carries on, for example with the next email. InMail isn't a sequence step; ask Revnu for one when you need it. Replies show up in the sender's own mailbox or LinkedIn and in Revnu's Inbox, with a drafted answer waiting for you to send.

### Can I export Revnu's leads to Clay or my CRM?

Through the Revnu API. Leads live on Revnu's Leads page, and a developer can read them with a token that has the leads:read scope, then send them on to Clay or your CRM.
